A leader in the clean energy transition, Jake brings 20 years of experience in developing, operating, acquiring, and managing renewable assets and teams across North America and Europe. As a director of project development at Radiant, Jake primarily focuses on project origination, development, asset management, and corporate structure.
Prior to Radiant, Jake was a founder and COO of Clir Renewables, a leading provider of renewable asset optimization software. Formed in 2016, the company grew to 100 employees and over 6 GW under management in three years. During his tenure, Jake: built and led the sales team; planned and executed sales entry into the United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia; did some initial programming; built and managed a human resources system that was ultimately spun out as another tech startup; developed a partnership for technology verification with National Renewable Energy Laboratory; hired and managed a security team to implement FERC-compliant software security protocols; successfully applied for and received $3 million CAD in nondilutive government grants; and led two rounds of financing with a final implied valuation of the company of more than $100 million CAD, from an initial investment of $400,000 CAD.
Prior to founding Clir, Jake originated, developed, acquired, operated, and optimized large utility-scale wind projects, BESS projects, and solar projects for GreenWing Energy Management Ltd., Elemental Energy, and Capstone Infrastructure Corporation. Some highlights include leading the technical diligence on the successful acquisition of Confederation Power as well as originating, developing, and selling two portfolios of over 1 GW each of renewable assets.
Jake holds a B.Sc. in Biology from the University of British Columbia, an MBA from Queen’s University, and a Project Management Professional certification.
